David Tang, Principal

Dual-qualified in England & Wales and Hong Kong, David is one of the few people entitled to legalise Hong Kong documents in the UK. Growing up in Hong Kong, he came to the UK as a student and soon discovered a fascination with the law, assisting several friends with immigration issues. After graduating in law from Brunel University in 1986, David completed his training and founded David Tang & Co Solicitors in 1992.

An expert in immigration, probate and conveyancing, David has been involved in several high-profile, challenging cases

After an initial consultation, David assesses the complexities of each case personally and advises his clients on the best next steps. He oversees all of his cases from start to finish, assisted by solicitors and experienced caseworkers in the team.

David has completed pro bono work on behalf of the Chinese community and has supported the families of Chinese Nationals in a number of tragic disasters, including the Morecambe Bay Chinese immigrants, the Chinese 58 migrants who perished in a lorry in Dover, and the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

He is Senior Vice President, Legal Advisor and a founding member of the London China Town Chinese Association, the official organiser of the annual Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year Celebrations in Chinatown, attended by hundreds of thousands of people each year. He is also Senior Vice President and Legal Advisor to the UK Chinese Business Association.

An aircraft enthusiast, David is proud to be the only Chinese pilot for fixed-wing and helicopter licensed in the UK. He provides Legal Counsel to the China & UK Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association. He also has a reputation for specialist knowledge in aviation law.

Lisa Tang, Senior Associate

Qualifying as a solicitor in 2008, Lisa always wanted to be a lawyer and help those in need. She completed an LLB (inclusive of the LPC) at the University of Northumbria with a dissertation on immigration law and completed her training at David Tang & Co.

Her expertise lies in immigration, probate, licensing and administrative law, including notable cases relating to international adoption and Islamic Law. As a result of her work on Supreme Court Case SM Alergia vs entry clearance officer UK visa section UKSC2015/0243, Kafala has now been recognised in Europe and must be accepted in adoption cases. Lisa also works on complex and challenging unlawful detention and human rights cases, passionate about supporting vulnerable clients and getting them access to justice. Lisa is an expert in complex entry clearance cases with over 17 years of experience in this area. She also has expertise in litigation and Judicial Review applications.

Our team of highly experienced immigration solicitors and caseworkers are here to help. Founded by David Tang over 30 years ago, most of our staff have been with us for over ten years.

Tracy Zhao, Trainee Solicitor

A native Mandarin speaker, Tracy read Law at Beijing Jiaotong University before moving to the UK to complete a Master’s in International Commercial Law at Northumbria University in 2008. Joining David Tang & Co that same year, Tracy has fifteen years of experience as a case worker/paralegal and she is due to complete her training as a fully qualified solicitor in November 2023.

Tracy handles client care with the majority of our Chinese clients, liaising with high-net-worth individuals and companies. She assists with visa work, immigration cases, conveyancing, and litigation work.

Phuong Ha, Immigration Caseworker

An essential part of our team since 2012, Phuong develops excellent relationships with clients who often request to see her. Patient, empathetic, knowledgeable, kind and super dedicated, she liaises with clients to explain the required evidence and keeps clients updated throughout the application process.

Phuong graduated with a first-class degree in 2004 and has been at David Tang for 11 years. She assists David Tang with his immigration cases, liaising with clients, organising the paperwork, preparing for applications and keeping clients updated on the progress of their cases.

Linda Yip, Immigration Caseworker

After graduating with a business degree in 2013 from the Swinburne University of Technology in her native Malaysia, Linda joined David Tang & Co in 2018. With a natural ability to put clients at ease and a keen eye for detail, she assists with all long residence immigration applications, advising clients on documentation, booking appointments, and preparing evidence for appeal bundles used in Court. She also liaises with clients to obtain essential witness statement information and help with Entry Clearance visas.

Adela Wong – Accounts & Office Manager

Originally from Hong Kong, Adela has worked with David Tang for over thirty years. Alongside managing the day-to-day running of the office, she meets with clients for initial consultations for Wills and Probate cases. She also handles matters such as legalising documents at the Chinese Foreign Office.

Ping Chan, Immigration Caseworker

A native of Hong Kong, Ping joined David Tang & Co. in 2001. She has over 20 years of immigration law experience and is a specialist in British National applications, working directly with clients to prepare and handle British National and family life applications.

Bonnita Wong, Legal Assistant

A member of the team for almost 20 years, Bonnita is originally from Hong Kong and assists with case preparation work for entry clearance, extension of leave and family life applications and bundling for appeals. She assists with conveyancing work and post-transaction completion such as property registration and stamp duty etc.
